Ladies in iron

2023

Living in Gemert it is always interesting to look at the things around you and wonder.  I was in ‘t Ridderhof a few weeks ago in the hall. Have you ever looked closely at the balustrade, not just through or over it?
You may be surprised if you ever get a chance to look again, I took a picture; then I took another one closer up this time.  I saw a lady in a swim suit, or in fact three per section. I asked our friends who have been in Gemert for more than 50 years if they had noticed ladies in swimsuits; no one had.
In homage to this ‘old’ iron structure designed by someone who may have had a sense of humour or eye for design I created a section in stained glass. A combination of colours bring out the design.  What do you think, am I seeing things?

The egg

2022

Colour and texture together in one stained glass piece, great in the sun.  What more can I say?

Thinking about Mondriaan

2022

I am not really abstract oriented but Mondriaan has always fascinated me, I will build a larger piece one day, for now this will make me think more.

Pyramids

2023

Inspired by Markus Klein, this not so small piece is 3D and constructed using glass and the tiffany method for glass making.  Keeping the colours simple makes it a bold statement to light and shadow Marcus's original piece. Designed to be wall mounted the glass used has a smoked, swirly finish. Pyramids uses only four colours to make this statement, a statement whether inside or out.

Shine

2023

The patterned glass takes on its own shine if light is put behind it. Take That sung 'shine' in 2006; this glass holder certainly does. Combining patterned glass with the tiffany technique.

The Tounge

2022

I used the tiffany style to create a birthday gift for a friend of ours.  This little beauty catches the sun and is fine for the fans of a certain pop group.  If you are not then it is another piece of art anyway.
